Change in the Registered Relation Norms

  • Earlier, as per an agreement, it was a practice that employee who have worked in the Company for more than 25 years ( 10 years in the case of Tubes Division),  can register one of their wards for being considered for a suitable employment in the Company against future vacancies. They are givenpreference in the employment when opportunity arises based on Company’s requirement. As per current norms, if an employee expires after 25 years of service and had  registered one of their wards, the same gets cancelled if any of the social security schemes is extended to the family.

Union observed that families of deceased employee face a lot of problems as registration facility was not extended to the wards of such employees. The matter was taken up by Tata Workers’ Union with the Management and after a detailed discussion, Union and Management agreed that the following changes in the Registered Relations norms :

  • If an employee expires after completing 25 years ( 10 years in case of Tubes Division) and had registered one of their wards, the registration of ward will continue even after extension of any social security scheme to the family. The registered ward will be considered for a suitable employment in the Company against current / future vacancies as  registered relation as per the laid down process.
  • Employee who met with an unfortunate death before completing 25 years of service , but would have completed more 25 or more years of service with Tata Steel , in normal course till their notional age superannuation, then the family of such ex-employees will be allowed  to register one of the eligible wards of the deceased employee. Such registered ward will be considered for a suitable employment in the Company against  current / future vacancies as  registered relation as per the laid down process.
